How to Make a Nerd Costume (source) Gear: Khaki pants, Button down dress shirt, Tie, Pocket protector, Pens and pencils, Thick black glasses, Parted hair, Belt, Dress shoes

You probably have a lot of what you need for your nerd costume hanging in your closet. The difference in a nerd costume is how you wear the materials and how you act...

Step 1: The pants make the most of the nerd costume. The pants should be short, such as reaching to the top of your ankles. You should also have the pants pulled up high on your waist, almost to your chest. The belt will help hold the pants there. The shortness of the pants will reveal the white socks beneath. These socks are usually calf length, but they can also be folded over. The shoes will finish this part of the ensemble.

Step 2: Next is the shirt. The shirt should be a white or otherwise plain material offering buttons in the front. It is your typical dress shirt. What makes it a bit nerdy is the long sleeves, pocket protector, and pens or pencils in the pocket. The long sleeves are usually always buttoned, rather than rolled up. Then you have the tie, which can be any sort. The pattern will probably need to have math or Einstein on it if you can find one. That way you are a math nerd.

Step 3: The parted hair with mousse will add to the nerd look. You also want to have fake thick black rimmed glasses.

  2. I want to be Betty Draper, the pregnant version from early on in Season 3.

If Ruby shows before then, I'll be the Betty Draper from Season Three, Episode three with a little tummy and a baby to carry around.

  6. love it! I don't know about MY costume, but my kids' are awesome--my 2 yr old dude is going as a Super trooper, complete with mustache, spiked (buzzed*) hair, aviators & popped collar on his jacket. My 8 month old little lady is going as Red Riding hood (she has this in maroon: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/b16-1-knitted-poncho-with-hood-and-booties-in-eskimo) holding a basket!
now if only the hubs would dress up with me!

  8. OMG! Scuba dog takes the cake. How the heck did they get those flippers to stay on that dog? Widge kicks anything off of his feet in twoseconds flat.

I don't know what Dustin and I are going to be yet... and we're having a Halloween party, too. We need to get on top of that! I was thinking it'd be funny if I was Bella, post James in the Ballet school and they couldn't save the leg. ;) (I totally just outed myself as a Twilight nerd!!)

I think Dustin wanted to be Waldo of the Where's Waldo fame. I need to go to target and see if they havea a stripey top!

What are YOU gunna be, Miss LA?

    Love you.
    Peas and carrots.
