How to Make a Stamp

hi :] I made a new to-shipping stamp this weekend to save money. It was really easy, never done it before, thought I'd show you how :) Supplies: Pen or sharpie for drawing template, stamp rubber and carving tool (they sell a kit at Michaels), x-acto knife, block of wood, glue. 1. Draw your image onto the carving rubber. If it's text, it needs to be mirror image. 2. Use the V-Tip kinda blade to outline the image. Do it in stages; once you've done a thin outline, go around it again and carve away more. The rubber is very soft and carves so easy. With an x-acto, I cut out the center of my block so i can use it for another stamp :] 3. Carve down the surroundings with the square-tip so that the stamp ink will not touch it. To test where the ink will hit, stamp it in a different color. If ink is anywhere else on the rubber, carve away Garth. 4. For easy ink coverage and stamping pressure, glue it to a piece of wood. I used Aleene's Tacky Glue and let it dry overnight with a jar of buttons on top for weight. 5. Giver.

  1. I made a stamp back in college and I thought it was so fun! I've thought about getting all the stuff and making more... you've got me thinking a little harder about it now. I'll have to check into that kit:)

  2. VERY COOL! The stamped image came out so clean! I thought it would be more rough looking. I've never seen that done before, super neato!
