Miss.October

Over at Birds on a Wire (the Freckled Nest Design Team blog) we have a monthly Miss.Chick...she get's to run the show on the blog for that month...redesign the blog, host contests, challenges, share inspirations, etc. This month, Jessica is Miss.October :) She's doing such a great job, and is definately motivating and inspiring me, and likely, the other Chicks :) Check out this rad banner she designed! Hope you enjoy getting to know Miss. October, Jessica :) 1. Tell us about you :) I am a graphic designer who loves to create using my computer, as well as making things by hand. I have always been interested in crafting thanks to my beloved Granny who taught me what creativity was at a young age. I enjoy promoting talented indie artists & crafters on my blog Funky Finds. I am an avid animal lover, a Christian, and a stubborn Leo. 2. Share your connection with FreckledNest/Leigh-Ann I discovered Leigh-Ann's fabulous work on Flickr. I couldn't believe all the awesome goods she designed. I started reading her blog & commenting. In turn, she replied & that started our convos & getting to know each other. 3. Where do you live? An exciting Friday night to me is sitting around in comfy clothes with my craft buddies & a glass of wine scrapbooking. 6. Do you have any pets? I have an adorable Chihuahua, Abigail Raine, who will be four years old on November 16. 7. What blogs and mags do you read and what shops do you shop at? Everything I feature on Funky Finds are things I adore & want for myself! (that's a lot of shops) I subscribe to over 300 blogs through bloglines. I believe whole-heartedly that I’m destined to meet and/or work for Martha one day! I shop mainly for craft & swap supplies (at places like Michael’s, JoAnn, and Hobby Lobby). I find my clothes at Ross (I’m cheap!) 8. Share something that lights your heart up :) Animals, namely dogs 9. Show & share your favorite photo you've ever taken... 10. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I recently discovered Java Chip from Starbuck's (thanks to Julie!) and it is HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH! 11. What's your worst fashion disaster (PICTURES welcome, lol)? In high school I wore striped Girbaud jeans that were red, blue, yellow & green. I kept them for future laughs! I would wear them with colored socks & brown loafers. Nice! 12. Favorite Movies and/or Books: I love the books by Phillipa Gregory. My favorite so far was The Virgin's Lover. Also love the Harry Potter books, but can't bring myself to read the last one yet My favorite movies include Bringing Up Baby (love Katherine Hepburn), About A Boy (Hugh Grant is my favorite actor), Must Love Dogs (love John Cusack), In Her Shoes, Steel Magnolias & Beaches (great chick flicks!) 13. If you had one hundred dollars fun money, what would you want to do? Buy scrapbooking supplies! (Like I need more!?) 14. What are your inspirations? Bright, fun colors. Nature. Simple things like pretty buttons & paper. 15. What do you collect? I don’t really have a collection of anything. I hate that b/c if you collect something like frogs then that’s all people give you. I guess you could say I collect fun monkey items, but I don’t want my house to be overrun with them! I love vintage plates, too. 16. What is your dream? I hope that one day I’ll be able to make a living working independently doing design & crafts. Joe & I always talk about getting a tricked out RV & hitting the road with our dogs. There are so many places in North America I haven’t had the chance to visit. I would love to work & blog from the road! 17. Ask our readers a question...
